- Classroom Expectations
-
- Be responsible
- Be respectful
- Be successful
- Be safe
- Citizenship Grades
Each student starts with an S (satisfactory) in citizenship. Students may earn an E (excellent) by consistently showing the behaviors below. After the sixth occurrence of misbehavior, the student will receive either an N (needs improvement) or detention. The citizenship grade is lowered again after the third offense to a U (unsatisfactory). The teacher has the right to give a more severe consequence for a more severe offense.
• E = Excellent. An ‘E’ in citizenship means you have gone above and beyond the average. You are helpful to other students. You are kind with your words and actions. You work very well in a group setting. You are responsible, reliable, and follow the rules
• S = Satisfactory.
• N = Needs Improvement.
• U = Unsatisfactory. A student who does not act appropriately, who lacks effort, or whose attitude is poor will earn a ‘U’. Any act of cheating will result in an automatic U.
- Effort Grades
Each student’s effort grade will be based on:
- classroom participation,
- the amount of completed assignments, and
- the effort put forth on each assignment.
- Achievement Grades
Each student’s achievement grade is based on the following grading scale:
90 – 100% = A
80 – 89% = B
70 – 79% = C
60 – 69% = D
59 – below = F
- Tardy Policy
Students must be in their assigned seat with all necessary materials ready to begin class, before the bell finishes ringing. If the student is not in their set with all necessary materials ready, it will result in a tardy. Students will also earn a tardy for running to get to their seat while the bell is ringing.
- Attendance
This is ESSENTIAL for success!!
What to do when you have been absent or are going to be absent. (This is YOUR responsibility).
1. You have 2 school days to turn in work for each excused absence. This means if you are absent on a Monday and you return on Tuesday, your work is due Thursday.
2. You are responsible to find out what you have missed. Be sure to find yourself a “homework buddy” and write down their phone number in your planner. If there are any handouts that you missed, your homework buddy should have them for you.
**Absent work must be placed in the absent tray. Please make sure that you write “absent work” and the date of the absence on your paper so that it is not marked as a late paper.
- Late Work Policy
You will be allowed to turn in 2 late assignments per quarter, for partial credit. Any other work turned in late will earn a zero. You can still earn effort points for these assignments.
**Late work must be placed in the late tray. Please make sure that you write “late work” and the date turned in on your paper so that you can receive partial credit.
.
- No Name Papers
If you do not put your name, period and date on your paper, I will not try to figure out whose paper it is. There will be a tray for no name work and you should periodically check it.
- Assigned Books
These books are your responsibility and must be covered at all times. If you lose or damage your book, it is your responsibility to purchase a new one.
- Needed Supplies
• #2 Pencils
• Pens for correcting
• Lined paper and 3 ringed binder or a notebook dedicated to this class
